A Breakthrough in Water Treatment for Antibiotics

09.11.2025

SONO announces the publication of the results of a large-scale study in the prestigious international journal Processes. The study demonstrates the exceptional efficiency of sonoplasma technology in the degradation of persistent organic pollutants, specifically the antibiotics tetracycline and ciprofloxacin.

The study confirmed that the combined action of hydrodynamic cavitation and plasma discharge in a flow reactor enables the rapid destruction of antibiotic molecules in water. This reagent-free method opens new possibilities for the treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater, representing an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional chemical methods.
